2014 GP2 Season

As the GP2 Series enters its tenth season of competition we look forward to providing even more excitement to race fans, as the best young drivers in the world fight for their place with the cream of racing talent in Formula 1 in 2014.

Since its inception in 2005 the GP2 Series has firmly established itself on the world stage as one of the premier one-make racing championships in the world. The combination of a fast, safe, high tech car with a talent pool of the best up-and-coming drivers in single-seater motorsport has made the series a must-see for fans of real racing.

Ten out of twenty-fours drivers of the current Formula One grid got their chance to race at the pinnacle of motorsport after proving their worth in the GP2 Series. In fact, over 60 drivers so far have received the opportunity to drive an F1 car as a result of their time in GP2.

It has been a while since I last raced here but I always enjoyed it. I think track limits might be a talking point at turn 1. Turn 11 (mobil 1) is my favourite corner on the track which brings you back into the motodrom arena. On the entry to this corner you can go over the white line to open the corner up and at this moment the track is very wide and the exit is blind but as your turn in the corner tightens up and it's taken at nearly 200km. Here is a good video from Pro-Sim to show you what it is like.

The Hungaroring is a very unique track where it has the lowest average speed of any non street circuit of the year this presents a different challenge for us. It is very important to get into a good flow of the track as one corner leads into another. On top of this the ambient and track temperatures are normally very high making it one of the most physical tracks of the year.

I enjoy the unique challenges of Monza with the long straights and low downforce configuration we run. I also have a good record at Monza with many poles and wins here, Ascari and Paraboilica have always been my favourite corners on the track as they are very fast and the car moves around a lot with the low downforce.
