In race one held on Saturday afternoon Adrian made one of his now customary great starts and overtook three cars off the line. Sadly his efforts were thwarted as later in that first lap he was challenging Jaime Alguersuari who braked early for the chicane causing Adrian to run into the back of him. In the incident Adrian lost his front wing and was heading for the pits for replacement when he was hit from behind ending his race on the spot
The BVM Minardi Team did a great job overnight repairing the damage and Adrian took his seventh row grid slot for Sunday's race. He gained a position at the start and was challenging for 11th when the race was red flagged following an incident. The restarted race was short-lived with an almost immediate red flag for another incident.
Despite running as high as sixth, with the rules for restarting meant that Adrian started in his original grid position minus the runners too damaged to restart. From the third and final restart he was at the back of the first pack but didn't have the opportunity to challenge and so crossed the line in ninth place, out of 34 starters
“It was really good, said Adrian. “I didn't expect to do so well the first time I was in the car. I'm looking forward to getting back in the car for the next round at Magny Cours, on the 22/23 September. I'll need to learn the track quickly as all the others have tested there but I'm up for the challenge. Overall it's been a great weekend and I can't wait to get back in the Formula Renault.”
